Product Review - Animalarm Animal Temperature Warning Alarm

Review. Animalarm - Animal Temperature Alarm that texts you when your pet/dog is getting too hot or cold within a vehicle. The Animalarm is a safety alarm for those that travel with their dog in the car, those that own a caravan, motorhome and may occasionally leave their pet within whilst socialising with other campers. Would also suit those that enter dog competitoins like dog flyball, dog agility, dog shows, working dogs where you leave you doors/ tailgate open but the car can still get a little too warm for your pet.

This Animalarm / Animal alarm will simply let you know when your vehicle is getting to an unsafe temperature. You can them take action to make your pet more comfortable.

The AnimAlarm is a completely portable and user-friendly temperature alarm, it monitors the temperature in your vehicle, caravan, motorhome, cottage and sends alarm notifications direct to your mobile!

Can be used for high and low temperatures. Animals simply do not sweat like you and I and If they get too hot their organs will start to fail and could lead to death very quickly. Be aware of potentially life threatening changes with the AnimAlarm.

Suitable for: Any Animal

Where you can use it: car - caravan - Awning - motorhome - horsebox - chicken coop - greenhouse - boat - conservatory  and more.

We loved this product so much we bought one. We love our caravan & cottage holidays and always travel with our dogs, so this product gives us that extra peace of mind.

Test 1 - We used the AnimAlarm whilst driving to a friends house with the dogs in the back of the car. We were surprised that despite it being a cloudy afternoon the temperature soon rose to 26 degrees and even when I opened a front window the temperature in the back of the car did not drop much at all. On a hot summers day we could see how the temperature in the back of a car could soon rise to uncomfortable conditions for your dog even with windows open and the vehicle moving.

Test 2 – Once reaching our destination we took the dogs out for a long walk together and then popped them back in the car while we went into our friends house for some dinner. Again we were surprised how quickly the temperature within the car began to drop and we soon got a text saying the temperature had dropped to 10 degrees, so we popped out to the car and put a coat on our spaniel who tends to feel the cold. After we had eaten and cleared away, the dogs came back into the house with us. When we returned to the car to drive home a couple of hours later, the temperature in the car had dropped to about 4 degrees which a lot of dogs would find quite chilly if they were not used to it.

Test 3 – A couple of days later when the sun finally popped out for a while, we tested the temperature in the car again and were shocked to see how quickly the temperature could rise in a car even with the front windows open a couple about 2/3inches inches. We shut one of our dogs in the back of the car with the AnimAlarm and within a few of minutes we got our first text alert at 11.56 saying that the temperature had risen to 24 degrees. At 11.58 we got a 25 degrees warning message, 12.00 midday it was at 26 degrees, and by 12.05 we opened the boot up and removed our dog from the car it was getting close to 27 degrees. It shows that in less than 10 minutes the temperature inside a car could be too hot for a dog.

Our Verdict.
Ease of use – Setting up is straight forward when following the instructions and using the product couldn’t be easier.
Value for money – You can’t put a price on the welfare of your dogs, so if you ever need to leave your dogs in a car, motorhome, caravan, conservatory etc even for short periods of time, I think this device is a must and well worth the cost.
Bad Points – We had the proto type and this was slow to recharge the battery, but it does last well. We have been informed that this will not be an issue when launched. Plugging a trickle solar charger could help prolong the charge of the battery.
This product will only work when both the AnimAlarm and your mobile phone have a mobile signal so checking this is a must before leaving your dogs. You can change the sim to another network if reception is poor.
Everybody knows that dogs should not be left in cars on a hot sunny day, but it is very difficult to judge when it is safe to do this or not. You may only be leaving your dog in the car for a short time while you pop into a shop or walk your agility course at a dog show. You might have parked your car in the shade of a tree only to find when you return half an hour later the sun has moved round and your car is now in the sun and heating up fast. The AnimAlarm gives you peace of mind when it is unavoidable to leave your dog by giving you warning in enough time to get back to your dog before the temperature starts to rise to dangerous levels.
