There is a Dog friendly pub within easy walking distance, all pets are very welcome Capel Barn is situated in one of the beautiful parts of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park Kilburn is a small, picturesque village nestling under the Hambleton Hills, overlooked by the magnificent White Horse which was hewn out of the hillside in the last century. Another feature of the village is the Robert "Mousey" Thompson museum and workshop which produces high quality English oak furniture, each piece bearing the characteristic carved mouse There are places of interest in the area to suit everyone. Kilburn itself is ideally suited for visits to the coastal resort of Whitby and Scarborough to the east, the Yorkshire Dales and cathedral city of Ripon to the west and the ancient city of York to the south. The whole county is a treasure store of historical abbeys and houses and breathtaking scenery. Thirsk is a small, friendly market town and the home of James Herriot's veterinary surgery, now a visitors' centre and veterinary museum with a fascinating step back in time to the early methods of animal care. For those who enjoy walking, the Moors have many interesting and isolated paths and Kilburn is very close to the Cleveland Way. There are lots of suggested dog-walking routes in the cottage, both for local "before breakfast" walks and longer, all day expeditions For those interested in more leisurely pursuits there is a feast of restaurants and inns to suit every taste and pocket. Our village pub, the Forresters' Arms, is a few hundred yards from the cottage - and they allow dogs inside! Chapel Barn is a small and cosy modern conversion of a traditional stone farm building. The accommodation comprises a spacious living and dining area with kitchen containing a good supply of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. There is a fridge, electric cooker, microwave, iron and ironing board and washing machine. There is one double bedroom. Bedding, linen and towels are provided. The bathroom has bath, wash hand basin and wc. There is a television and radio/CD player. The small garden is enclosed and car parking is immediately outside the cottage door. To save worry and spills on the journey a loaf of bread and a pint of fresh milk will be in the cottage on your arrival (also some eggs from my hens when they are laying) For the comfort and convenience of the majority of our visitors, please note that NO SMOKING is permitted in Chapel Barn No children please, but ALL PETS ARE VERY WELCOME!
