Rafters is a dog friendly self-catering cottage on the Dittiscombe estate in Devon. Come and stay in our holiday cottages at Dittiscombe, all set in a fabulous and peaceful location close to the South Devon coast. We have six individually and comfortably furnished self-catering cottages sleeping 2 - 6, each with its own private garden and views.

Dittiscombe is open all year and we welcome families and couples for summer holidays, romantic off-season breaks, and walking holidays. Dogs are welcome too with over 20 acres of open space for 'walkies' on site. For a car free day guests can take the 50 minute walk to Slapton village with its two excellent dog-friendly pubs, or perhaps a nature safari around the freshwater lake and reedbeds at Slapton Ley.

Some of our cottages have woodburners and spa baths and all are well-equipped and include LCD TVs and Wifi. Within our conservation valley we manage a nature trail with ponds, woodlands and meadows. Guests can watch the wildlife from their cottage gardens or from vantage points along the nature trail

Rafters Cottage: The airy open-plan sitting room features a tiled floor and a stone-built fireplace with a flame-effect electric heater, and is furnished with a colour TV, DVD, sofas/chairs and coffee tables. The fully-equipped kitchen leads to the dining area which looks out onto the garden through sliding doors. There is a downstairs bathroom, with shower over bath.
Upstairs: there are ancient rafters in both the main bedroom with double bed, and the second bedroom with two single beds.
One step through the patio doors takes you to the level garden which has views of the valley beyond. It is laid to lawn and is surrounded by a stone wall, fencing and shrubs. Wooden patio furniture sits on a small gravel area with garden pots and climbers. There is a wooden gate to Willows garden .

Local Area - The stunning beaches and coves of South Devon are a short drive away and there's great walking on the South West Coast Path from Dartmouth to Salcombe. Other local coast and countryside activities include hiking on Dartmoor, rock-pooling, canoeing, surfing, sailing and golfing.

We provide our guests with a temporary membership to Dartmouth Golf & Country Club (five miles) where there are 18 and 9-hole courses, a pool, sauna and gym, and can arrange tee-times on the many coastal and moorland golf courses nearby.
